Seattle Democrat Mayor This week proposed a city ordinance that would strengthen protections for those who seek transgender attention and surgeries, while calling the “hateful, dangerous and discriminatory attacks” of the Trump administration “against the LGBTQ+community.
Mayor Bruce Harrelll Campaign as moderate before his victory in 2021, pushing public security and helping local businesses, according to the Seattle Times, although he has expressed his support for transgender attention previously.
Harrell was chosen after riots in the city after the death of George Floyd and the mortal Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone That, together with the pandemics and devastated parts of the city center.
Harrell “symbolized a change towards the center, far from some of the leaders on the left of Seattle,” wrote the Seattle Times in 2023 of Harrell’s victory in 2021.

On Thursday, the conservative of Radio de Seattle, Jason Rantz, described the municipal legislation proposed by Harrell as “extreme”, but “mostly without teeth” and mainly “signaling of virtue” to gain favor with the progressives of Seattle.
Harrell proposed the legislation after President Donald Trump signed a Executive order stop federal funds for transgender medical care suppliers for people under 19 years.
“We are proud of Seattle’s reputation as a cozy and inclusive city for the LGBTQ+ community and we recognize its immeasurable contributions to the vitality and culture of our city.” Harrell said in a statement this week.
“This legislation is a tangible step to strengthen local protections and be with our LGBTQ+ community against hateful, dangerous and discriminatory attacks of the Trump administration and others, ensuring that everyone has access to essential health services.”

Trump’s executive orders have met demands and are currently blocked by the courts.
Some hospitals from all over the country arrested transgender attention after Trump orders to avoid losing funds.
A judge in Seattle also blocked orders in four states in one of the demands filed by a group of states led by Democrats.

Harrell added that the ordinance affirms the “shield law” of the state of Washington that protects transgender people who need reproductive services and those who provide them with the prosecution.

Harrell pointed out this week in a statement from the city that signed a bill in 2022 that caused the invasion of reproductive or transgender attention to be a minor crime.
He added that, as a member of the City Council of Seattle before his choice, he was a “vocal” supporter of access to transgender attention for city employees.
