It has been more than five years since Wade Robson and James Safechuck in detail they describe their accusations of sexual abuse against Michael Jackson in Leave NeverlandBut the consequences of the public are still engaged.
Both men opened up on their continuing struggle for justice in a new documentary Leaving Neverland II: survival of Michael Jacksonwhich premiere on Tuesday, March 18. Since original document The HBO premiere in 2019, both continued their attempts to court – and it was a consistent battle uphill.
(HBO does not participate Leaving Neverland II After the judge ruled that the first film violated the NediskParagement clause in the 1992 contract for HBO at Jackson’s Hazardous tour.)
“When I first started talking about the abuse of my therapist, one of the first things that started to come for me was,” Okay, that’s what happened to me is what Michael did, what am I doing now? “Robson, 42, in a new documentary.” I went to the beach (in June 2012) and I burned the items – Michael items, personal belongings, memorbilia items. ” ”
According to Robson and Safechuck, 47, not only fighting for their younger Self, the duo originally tried to bring their cases against Jackson to court in 2013 and 2014, but their litigation was thrown due to limitation restrictions.
In 2020 they were able to try their cases again after the California Governor Gavin Newsom He signed a new law that expands the limitation of cases in cases of sexual abuse of children. While their cases were dismissed in 2021, the Court of Appeal ruled in 2023 that they could go to court. The judge is currently set for November 2026.

“While Mr. Jackson is definitely responsible for this, just like any other pedophile case I have ever encountered, pedophiles do not work in vacuum – especially successful,” lawyer lawyer John Manly said Leaving Neverland II. “We have to show that MJJ Productions, his society he owned, was aware of it and knew it.” People were aware of this and knew it. ”
According to Robson, his alleged relationship with Jackson was facilitated by adults who were in his job.
“From the way I met Michael in the first place to the way we met again, and after we became friends, all my interactions were organized with him who worked for him and worked with him,” he said. “There were so many (when) bodyguards who worked for Michael (were) right behind the door when the abuse was done, whether it was in Neverland or in the trailers, in the recording studio.” Always the people around him. It was known that something strange was happening. And no one in the organization seemed to do anything about it. ”
Safechuck made similar comments and said the camera, “People had to know. It is difficult to imagine that he is fine with the constant cycle of children coming and out. I can’t imagine how they didn’t know. ”
Jackson’s property and lawyers did not participate Leaving Neverland II. The title card was: “For six years, we submitted repeated requests for the interview and comment of the legal team representing the estate Michael Jackson and MJJ Productions. They refused every opportunity to participate in this document. ”
As described in detail in the first Leave NeverlandRobson and Safechuck claimed that Jackson had sexually abused them as children for seven and four years. Jackson’s property called a movie “The assassination of tabloid characters” and killed Robson and Safechuck as “admission of liars”, quoted the fact that they originally claimed that Jackson had never happened to turn their statements.
Robson dealt with this criticism specifically in Leaving Neverland IIHe claims he never wanted to testify to Jackson. (The pop star was arrested in 2003 and accused of harassing children, but two years later she was found guilty.)
“Michael called him, called him and called him and called him and still begged him and begged him and begged him,” the lawyer Vince was final He said about Robson, who described in detail some of these alleged interviews.
“He said,” You know we can’t let them do it. “We can’t let them take them off,” Robson said Jackson. “We, we.”
Robson claimed to eventually told Jackson he wouldn’t testify, but soon received summons. “So that’s,” he said. “I have no choice, that’s what I do.”
The choreographer said he felt as if he were “unable to tell the truth” during the 2005 process. It was only a few years later – after he married and had his own son – that he felt ready for his accusations.
Ron ZonenProsecutor in Jackson’s criminal proceedings, said he had been asked over the years whether Robson would prosecute an oath, and always said no.
“I said,” This is one of those things where very few people have control over what happens, the least – believe it or not – (they are) the person who is experiencing it, “he explained.”
Now, for more than a decade of legal back and back, Robson and Safechuck are ready to stand up.
“Whatever the end result, I really don’t see how I lose,” Robson said. “If I get the opportunity to get back there and get to the booth and tell the truth, as if I couldn’t have for decades, it’s a victory for me.”
Meanwhile, Safechuck described this process “exhausting”, but said he was looking forward to talking to his truth.
“Some of me are as if this strength was being built and this shield to pass it,” he explained. “I imagine that I was in court proceedings, in the seat, looking for strength and fighting for Little Jimmy.” When it comes, I’ll be ready. ”
