The execution of the inmate of the death of Texas, David Leonard Wood, who had been scheduled for this week, was arrested by a Texas Appeals Court on Tuesday.
Wood, 67, has spent almost 33 years in the death corridor and had been preceded to lethal injection this week due to the murders of six young girls and women found buried in the desert near El Paso. The court put Wood’s execution in a “up to an additional order” pause, without preparing in its three -page order.
Six of the nine members of the court made that decision, Fox 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth reported. Judges Mary Lou Keel and Gina Parker did not agree with the execution of Wood and Judge Bert Richardson, who had heard all Wood’s appeals in the court of first instance since 2011, did not participate.
This was another delay for Wood, who was previously prepared for execution in 2009 when he was suspended about 24 hours earlier because of the statements that he was intellectually disabled and, therefore, is not eligible for execution. Those statements were later rejected by a judge, and Wood had been willing to die on Thursday.

The 1987 murders remained unsolved for several years until the authorities say that Wood boasted a cell partner that he was the so -called “desert murderer.” The bodies of the victims were found buried in shallow tombs in the same desert area Northeast of El Paso.
