Ball-Doheny is a peculiar confrontation that involves the undefeated ball (21-0-1, 12 kos) in front of a larger guy that comes out of a knockout loss.
Fans have ridiculed the decision to use Doheny, 38, (26-5, 20 KO), but the promoters of this event have older fans who wish to see the confrontation for nostalgia. You can only go so far when trying to attract fans by selecting old veteran.
It does not work forever without making fans lose interest, and they do nothing to develop younger fighters.
They remember TJ years ago, when I was still winning and organizing impressive actions. In retrospect, Ball should have annulled the decision of his management and insisted that Bruce Carrington be his opponent.
In the main support fight, the British Gallo and the Commonwealth Andrew Cain (13-1, 12 KO) weight champion faces Charlie Edwards (20-1, 7 kos) in a 12 round fight.
Easily, the best fighter on the billboard tonight is the Cuban lightweight lighter Jadier Herrera (16-0, 14 kos), which has a power of a blow, and is like a mini mini Julian Jackson. Herrera, 22, is the most exciting fighter in this event, including the headline Nick Ball, and the only one on the card destined to win a world title.
The lightweight champion of the WBC Shakur Stevenson dodged Jadier Herrera in favor of the blow of light Josh Padley last month on Riad’s season card on February 22. That was the highest form of compliment.
