Jon Stewart became the leader of the Chuck Schumer Senate minority, DN.Y. and The Democratic Party for being ineffective in counteracting President Donald Trump and the Republicans of Congress.
The presenter of “The Daily Show” criticized Schumer and his party on Monday night after 10 Democrats, including Schumer, voted alongside Republicans for a continuous resolution (CR) to keep the federal government open on Friday.
Stewart compared the Democratic Party with a stationary bicycle, “pedaling very hard and not going anywhere”, after months of not blocking President Donald Trump’s Agenda following the 2024 elections.
The night host played a 2019 Schumer clip, where he said he spoke with the members of the Republican party “all the time” in the gym, preparing Stewart for a gym-humor crack in the senator.

“In the gym, they only agree with you because they want you to leave them alone, in the gym, on the stationary bicycle. ‘Oh, of course, Chuck, I will definitely do that.’
Previously in the program, Stewart sarcastically told his audience that “do not fear”, because the Democrats finally have the opportunity to face Trump, whom he described a “tyrant aspiring.”
“But do not be afraid! Because the Democrats, they put on their backs, they finally have the opportunity to stand up and show their discouragement, they still have the beginning and the spine to face this aspiring tyrant,” Stewart mocked.
Stewart described CR As “designed to damage the American people”, and went on to criticize Schumer for complacency to resist Trump’s agenda.

Schumer claimed in a Recent New York Times interview That once Trump’s favorable survey numbers fall below 40%, Republican legislators would begin working with the Democrats. He pointed out that with Trump at 48%, they must “keep it” until the president’s approval decreases.
Stewart responded to the comments by telling his audience: “Apparently, the great plan is that the Democrats remain complaining until approval 48 is reduced to 40, which is a plan. But forget about crucial information in the calculation of popularity of Schumer.”
The night host showed a MSNBC clip revealing that “only 27% of voters have a positive vision of the party. The lowest favorability rating in the history of NBC surveys”
Stewart made fun of the Democrats for weak numbers.
“You are at 27%! You have to make Trump lose eight points of popularity so that you reach the point where you are only 13 points below it! Your approval is only seven points above where it gets red and puts in low power mode,” Stewart Cindot.
