The Jetoum International Airport, only about 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles) to the southeast of the palace, has been held by the RSF since the beginning of the war in April 2023.

Suleiman Sandal, a politician associated with the RSF, acknowledged that the army took the palace and called him part of “the ups and downs” of history.

The RSF then issued a statement claiming that their forces “are still present from the neighborhood of the area, fighting bravely.” According to the reports, an attack with unmanned airplanes in the palace that is believed that RSF killed troops and journalists with Sudanese state television.

On Thursday night, the RSF said he confiscated the control of the Sudanese city of Al-Maliha, a city of the strategic desert in northern Darfur, near the borders with Chad and Libya. The Sudan Army has recognized the fight for Al-Maliha, but has not said that he lost the city.

Al-Maliha is about 200 kilometers (125 miles) to the north of the city of El Fasher, which remains in the hands of the Sudanese army despite the almost daily strikes by besieging RSF.
