When most Buffy The Vampire Slayer Fans overlook the show, are afraid to get into the season 6, because it is such a descent. Tara is not only dying, but this is the season when we watch Buffy has an absolutely toxic relationship with the vampire Spike and engage in another behavior out of character to deal with the stress of returning from the dead. Interestingly, this terrible season is effectively foreshadowed by one of the best and earliest episodes of the show. We are talking about Buffy Season 2 Episode “When it was bad”, which also included a killer acting from character due to huge stress.
Buffy The fans had no way to know when the episode first had a premiere, of course, but “when she was bad”, they looked at the sixth season by all (fans and characters) angry at the title character. For the context of Buffy, she literally died in her master’s hand in the final of the season 1; Xander, however, brought her back to life through CPR and she defeated a vampire villain. But at the premiere of the season 2, it is significantly out of character: she is surprised in Willow, is cruel to Cordelia and is cool Angel, goes so far that he flirts with him to bother her undead friend.
If you are a Buffy The fan watched “when she was bad” for the first time, you will probably spend most of the episode screaming on television and ask why the killer suddenly became so indifferent and average in the summer. It turns out, however, that all of this is a manifestation of Buffy’s trauma from her struggle with the master, and she returns to her old self after she smashed vampire bones and effectively destroyed any chances of resurrection through dark magic. For the most part, it is a recognized episode that is ironic because it pretends to be the main aspect of the season 6, which they hated so much.
It is easy to insulate the individual elements of the season 6 that hated countless fans, including the terrible relationship of Buffa with Spik (one that will culminate in trying to rape). However, this relationship and so other bad decisions are driven by the fact that Buffy’s friends resurrected her after the death of season 5; They concluded that she could be stuck in a hell dimension, but Buffy later revealed that they had happened to be ripped out of the sky. This, combined with the trauma of Buffy’s mother dying in the previous season, ensured that the killer spent the season in a depressing state when he solved secular things such as accounts and undead monsters.
Given what we know about Buffy in Season 6, it is fair to say that “when she was bad”, pretending to show this season by showing how he reacts to trauma by making bad decisions, especially romantic. In an earlier episode, this may be the best example of her often refused an angel and even led Xander with a sexy dance to keep her toy jealous. We do not want to minimize the previous trauma Buffy, but if killed and immediately resurrected, it caused all this romantic drama, it is absolutely believable that the sky will succeed in the sky months would lead to a toxic relationship with Spik.
Unfortunately, what Buffy Writers and producers did not see that “when she was bad” was effective specifically because she portrayed an arc with one episode in which the killer won over her trauma while the credits were rolling. It’s okay to have one episode or arch where our hero is on the back leg but as the season 6 shows, no one really wanted a whole season From our title, its depressive trauma brought low.
For the better or for the worse, however, it approached Buffy fans, because the sixth season is the trauma that we shared together, although only the killer had to deal with her stress by having sex with a hot vampire. In this way, you could say that all traumas are created the same … some are just more straight (a way more weird) than others.
