The Cowboys fighter of the state of Oklahoma Wyatt Hendrickson greeted the president Donald Trump On Saturday night, after his historic surprise of the Gable Steveson of Minnesota in the 285 -pound division in the NCAA struggle championship.
Hendrickson, who is a second lieutenant in the United States Air ForceHe pointed to the president and gave him a greeting when he was given the US flag. Trump waved his fist in support. Then he shook Trump’s hand and hugged him as part of his celebration.

“It’s bigger than worlds, Olympic Games, anything,” said Hendrickson.
The victory was considered one of the greatest inconvenience in the history of the wrestling of the NCAA. Steveson was looking for his third national title in the middle of a 70 -games winning streak. He won the national titles in 2021 and 2022 before taking a free year in 2023 to pursue the NFL and a WWE race. He returned for the 2024 season.
Steveson renounced a demolition with 20 seconds in the game. Then, Hendrickson scored once again before time expired. The crowd and the stations were stunned.
Hendrickson touched his mentality when he entered the fight and how his faith played a role in his victory.
“I think it’s going to be a couple more days before emotions calm down. But first, I just want to thank my family. I want to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for blessing me,” he said, through ASAP Sports. “In that last shot, I was in that leg and there was an extra push behind me to get that demolition. I don’t think that was by chance.
“At the beginning of the week, Brandon Mason, our doctor, went to the church of life and he was, like ‘Hello, guys, a great sermon.’ He was listening to the sermon.
Hendrickson suggested that he focused on that story, since Steveson was the favorite to win.

“I took it all week. Although it was after Goliath and everyone was, like, ‘this cannot be done,’ had a champion’s mind, he had a vision of victory. Driving this tournament, I knew that my head had to be in the right place if I wanted to end at the top.
“When I left, it was brave. And my strength is: it worked. I fought that game. I was patient. I entered with the right mentality. And I was immediately, as, ‘this is not going to be an easy game.’ Just at the beginning it was a coating at the exit.
“He knocked me once. But I knocked him down when it mattered.”
Hendrickson said he plans to serve in the Air Force for the next 20 years and that he is currently an acquisition officer. He said he is in the World Class Athletes program, which allowed him to fight this year.
“From the beginning I knew that I wanted to make my career my career, which was obviously why I chose the Air Force Academy, I was looking more than fighting, I was looking at my career goals, life goals,” he added. “You could achieve all those at the Air Force Academy. Fight in Big 12. Get a world -class education, being part of something bigger than me.
