The WBO welter weight champion, Brian Norman Jr. (27-0, 21 kos), showed tonight that type #1 can be in division 147 with his third round of technical victory over Derrieck Cuevas (27-2-1, 19 kos) in the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, Las Vegas.

Norman Jr. began slowly in the first round, taking some large shots of the hard hand caves. In the second round, Norman Jr. began to land large left hooks, shaking caves.
Norman Jr. was after caves in the third round, landing a large left hook in the jab that surprised the challenger. Derriek seemed that everything was not there after that shot. Norman Jr, 24, then pounced on him, throwing a right hand followed by a powerful left hook, causing Cuevas to lose his balance and fall to the canvas.
When Cuevas got up, he ignored the orders of the referee to turn and face him to prove that he was ready to continue. It was as if Cuevas had decided that he no longer wanted to fight. He walked directly to his corner. The referee, Thomas Taylor, stopped the fight. Time was 2:59 in the third.
Norman Jr.’s performance showed that he can be the best fighter in the Welter weight division at this time and too much for the other champions, jaron ‘boots’ Ennis, Eimantas Stanionis or Mario Barrios. Norman Jr. has too much power in his shots, and would take advantage of Ennis’s escaped defense to give him problems.
Brian Jr. looked very good tonight, and it would not be a shock if the boot promoter Ennis, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom, chooses to keep him permanently away from him by Give lowball offers For a unification fight.
That is a tactical way in which promoters let other combatants know that they are not interested in fighting their boys. Norman Jr. would spoil the exaggeration that Boots has accumulated in his career and ruined Hearn’s investment.
