Matthew Lawrence officially launched Chili after his divorce with Cheryl Burke.
The actor and the TLC singer, real name Rozonda Thomas, began dating romantically in November 2022, three months after her rep said My Weekly that they were “just friends” when they performed together in Hawaii. The two “made love” on New Year’s Day.
Lawrence’s relationship with Chilli comes after Burke announced her split from him in February 2022. Their divorce papers they listed the separation date as January 7, 2022.
Burke, who cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, later claimed that Lawrence was “cruel”. forcing them to go to court over custody of their dog Ysabella.
When Lawrence and Chilli became Instagram official on New Year’s Eve 2022, Burke gave her followers an update on how she coped after a tough year.
“I’ve been through a year of him doing everything he could to try and break me and there were many times I thought I was going to break but here I AM,” the dancer wrote on Dec. 31. “2022 has been a year full of the biggest ups, downs and heartbreak (if I’m being honest) I’ve ever experienced, but without these life experiences I wouldn’t be who or where I am today… I long to move forward, no longer be defined by my past and SO ready to start the next chapter of my life 2023, LET’S SHOW THEM HOW IT’S DONE!”
