Who were the victims of the deadly New Orleans attack?

A well-known college football player, a young aspiring nurse and the mother of a four-year-old boy are among the victims of the New Year’s Day attack in New Orleans, in which at least 15 people died.

Their names are being released by family and relatives before authorities complete post-mortem examinations.

Martin “Tiger” Bech is a former Princeton University football player.

His death was confirmed in a statement from the university.

“There was no more appropriate nickname for a Princeton player I coached,” Princeton football coach Bob Surace said in a statement.

“He was a ‘Tiger’ in every way: a fierce competitor with endless energy, a beloved teammate and a loving friend.”

Martin Bech’s brother, Jack Bech, posted a tribute on X along with a news article reporting his death.

“I will always love you brother!” he wrote. “You inspired me every day, now you can be with me every moment. I have this family T, don’t worry. This is for us.”

Bech was a member of the 2016 and 2018 Ivy League championship teams.

The 18-year-old was an aspiring nurse.

His death was confirmed by his mother, Melissa Dedeaux, on social media.

“I lost my baby, just pray for me and my family please! God I need you now!!,” the mother pleaded, along with a photo of her daughter in a red graduation cap and gown from this anus.

Ms Dedeaux, who is also a nurse, told local media outlet Nola that her daughter was due to begin her nursing training later this month.

He added that Nikyra had escaped with a cousin and a friend, who survived.

Nikyra’s school friend, Dante Reed, told the New York Times that he had received a frantic call from his cousin, saying that they had run when they heard gunshots and that she, Nikyra, was missing.

Her grandmother, Jennifer Smith, told the newspaper that “she was a joy for the short time we had her.”

“I’m very proud of all my grandchildren, and that one especially.”

The death of the store manager and father of two was confirmed to CBS News, BBC News’ US partner, by his cousin Shirell Robinson Jackson.

Jackson described him as “full of life” and said the 37-year-old had messaged the family minutes after midnight to wish them a Happy New Year.

He was with another cousin who was injured in the attack.

Mr. Hunter’s younger sister, Courtney Hunter, told the New York Times that her brother loved being with the family and was competitive when it came to playing.

Kimberly Usher Fall, a friend of Perez and a boss at the deli she managed, called her a dedicated, smart and kind-hearted person, according to CBS.

“She was beautiful and full of life,” she wrote in an online fundraiser she organized for her friend.

The 27-year-old was also the mother of a four-year-old child.

Usher Fall said Perez often took his son to work on his days off from school.

She used to teach him math and the alphabet in the deli’s stockroom between jobs, Usher Fall told The Washington Post.

“She really was a good girl, man, she really was,” he said, adding that “she was making everything work and she left, she just left.”

The 25-year-old audiovisual technician had a “relaxed spirit and infectious laugh” that brought joy to those around him, according to a fundraiser his family organized in his name.

His mother, Cathy Tenedorio, told US broadcaster NBC News that she last saw her son alive at 9pm local time on New Year’s Eve, adding that she remembered hugging and kissing him.
