Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi has resigned from the board of self-driving truck startup Aurora


Dara Khosrowshahi is stepping down from the board of autonomous vehicle technology company Aurora Innovation, citing a desire to focus on his ongoing responsibilities as CEO of Uber and reduce the board’s external responsibilities, according to a regulatory filing on Friday.

Khosrovshahi’s resignation took effect on Tuesday. Aurora says Khosrovshahi’s decision to leave the board is not the result of any disagreements with the company.

The Uber CEO and Aurora Innovation go way back. in 2020 Uber has uploaded its self-driving Uber ATG facility to Aurora. The deal at the time called for Uber to divest its equity in ATG and invest $400 million in Aurora, giving it a 26% stake in the combined company. Khosrowshahi joined Aurora’s board as part of the deal.

Through Uber Freight, Uber’s freight brokerage platform that connects shippers and carriers, the ride-hailing and delivery giant maintained a relationship with Aurora. in June, Uber and Aurora announced a multi-year partnership Deploying Aurora-powered trucks to the Uber Freight network.

Uber’s relationship with Aurora is not exceptional. The company also has it Agreement with Waabi, a self-driving truck startup founded by Raquel Urtasun, who previously served as chief scientist and head of R&D at Uber ATG.
