Volkswagen subsidiary Scout Motors is getting off to a good start at CES 2025 next week. news for people who plan to go outdoors with the company’s electric vehicles: The upcoming Traveler SUV and Terra pickup truck will have built-in satellite connectivity.
Scout Motors isn’t saying where it’s getting the satellite link equipment or who the service provider will be. What’s currently said is that the vehicles will be “pre-wired from the factory” and the hotspot is “designed to have a wide range to help drivers and passengers communicate in and around the vehicles.”
Company only presented its first two cars in October, and they won’t be out until 2027, so it’s not too surprising that Scout Motors isn’t ready to spill the beans just yet. Maybe we’ll get a few clues when we see the cars in person at next week’s show, where Scout Motors plans to showcase its “Community UX” user interface. It’s like We found out at TechCrunch Disrupt — will be built on software developed by Rivia’s joint venture with Volkswagen.
