The only thing former The Vanderpump Rules costars Lala Kent and Katie Maloney it can be agreed that their friendship is over.
Devoted Bravo fans are likely familiar with Lala and Katie’s various relationships ups and downs documented on the hit reality show. After Lala joined the series in Season 4, she and Katie immediately got off on the wrong foot. It took several seasons for the pair to agree on a fresh start for their relationship.
According to time Tom Sandoval’with an affair with Rachel “Raquel” Leviss hit the headlines in 2023, Katie and Lala were thick as thieves. Season 11 of the hit Bravo series got off to a great start as most of the cast got along. But at the end of the same season, there were several rifts between the cast – including a broken friendship between Lala and Katie.
Problems started early for costars —Lala later revealed that she had an argument with Katie before production began on season 11.
“Right before the Season 10 reunion, Katie went on the podcast and said, ‘The vibes were gone with us,'” Lala shared on her “Give Them Lala” podcast in March 2024. “Something happened and … we just never came back we are where we were.”
Lala he did not want to elaborateand adds: “It can be talked about (at) a certain time, I don’t know, I won’t talk about it today. But I feel like after that happened, we looked at each other differently and grew apart.’
Katie and Lala briefly patched up their issues, but after the stormy season 11 finale, Katie admitted that she didn’t see a future friendship with Lala as a friend. Lala on her part confirmed she felt the same way.
“We can discuss this all our lives, it doesn’t matter.” What’s done is done,” Lala said on the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast in December 2024. “Maybe someday we’ll be able to rebuild, or maybe we’ll never see each other again. Who knows, right? But I want her to be happy in her life. He deserves it.”
Lala subsequently confirmed that “not one” of them had “reached out” since meeting in season 11 The Vanderpump Rules. Keep scrolling to see what Lala and Katie had to say about their ongoing fractured friendship:
During a January 2023 episode of her podcast, “You’re Gonna Love Me”, Katie admitted that her friendship with Lala was struggling, adding: “The vibes are definitely off.”
Lala responded on her own podcast a year later confirming fall off screen out. “So many people were asking about (Katie). So of course I was like, ‘Why are people asking this?’ Well, now I know someone asked Katie about it on her podcast and she said, ‘The vibes are definitely gone.’ So I think the vibes are definitely gone,” she said in March 2024 of the rift, which came before the season 10 reunion in 2023.
At the time, Lala noted that she and Katie were “in a different place now.”
“There was never a solution,” Lala explained. “It was one thing after another that we just couldn’t quite conquer and see eye to eye. As the season goes on, you’ll see us soften together.”

Gizelle Hernandez/BravoLala exclusively said My Weekly before Season 11 airs in 2024 had a “rock” season with Katie.
“We’ve had a tough season and it’s been extremely difficult and sad. Especially since we were just ride or die in season 10. That made me sad, but we are good,” she noted. “(I enjoy having) friendships where we can have ups and downs and then find common ground. I don’t always want to agree, I want to evolve with you. I want you to teach me something about myself.”
Rumors of a dispute began in April 2024 when Lala unfollowed Katie and Ariana.
“I found out about it through an Instagram post,” Katie told us. “Lala and I went through some stuff over a year ago and I thought we fixed (it). Then you will see last season and show, we got into some fights. We were like, ‘I feel like we don’t see eye to eye on a lot of things.’ And I’m not entirely sure. I really don’t know what to say about that.”

Gizelle Hernandez/BravoAs season 11 continued to air, Lala admitted that Ariana played a role in her split with Katie.
“I think we were at odds because, from my point of view, she wasn’t very honest this season. I don’t realize that Katie (because) the reason she and I really freaking connect is because we’re not bulls—,” Lala explained on the Vanderpump Rules After Show in May 2024. mouth, it can be harsh or aggressive, but that’s right.”
Lala even quoted what Katie did he said to her about her problems with Ariana.
“She was mad like, ‘I’m the only one doing stuff for this sandwich show. where is he He is always late with his half of the rent. The ball is falling,” claimed Lala. “She was very worried about rocking the boat after investing hundreds of thousands of dollars in this restaurant and having Ariana as her business partner. I can’t say I don’t feel the same way. I probably would. She had opinions. You can have your opinions and still have Ariana’s back.”
Katie ended up setting the record straight on her private conversation with Lala.
“I’ve been someone who has suffered from impostor syndrome for as long as I’ve known myself. That’s why I was afraid to open a sandwich shop on my own,” she wrote via Instagram Stories in May 2024. “So when Ariana was not only going through a world of pain, but also being given amazing opportunities, it changed a lot of things. during a crucial time. I was extremely sensitive to what she was going through, but I was also very supportive.”
Katie denied Lala’s comments about Ariana leaving her, adding: “I was dealing with a huge amount of insecurity about what to wear and I just didn’t want to put it on her. I had an emotional response that didn’t feel right to bring to her front door, so I went where I felt safe. Or where I thought I felt safe.”
While Katie and Ariana were able to resolve their issues, the same could not be said for Katie and Lala. “To know me is to know that I value trust, loyalty and integrity,” Katie concluded.
In addition to questioning Katie, Lala also she dug herself out of her friendship with Ariana saying on the June 2024 episode of the podcast “Two Ts in a Pod,” “Trauma bonds run deep. I’ve had trauma bonds before and they are strong, but neither of you should have to go through that trauma. Because once you start healing, (that) bond is over.”
Katie called out Lala’s attempt to rekindle old on-screen drama — specifically her misunderstanding with Ariana — during a Season 11 reunion The Vanderpump Rules. She later explained why she didn’t see herself getting back on good terms with Lala.
“I felt like she was obviously having certain feelings and thinking certain things that I didn’t know she was feeling. And so she was saving them for the reunion, which didn’t feel super authentic to me,” Katie said on the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast in July 2024. “To sit there and be called an inauthentic person or a fake . But in the meantime, I’m sitting next to someone I thought I knew and knew very well, and he was open and honest with me, but he had feelings for me for a long time. That was shocking.”
Katie questioned Lala’s behavior when the cameras were rolling.
“Once you break my trust like that, it’s very hard to come back from it. Trust is the most important thing to me. And if you try to manipulate me with that and use it against me and say we talked about these things,” she continued. “These were not interviews that were meant for the camera. Not everything is. … I’m allowed to have some privacy and talk to people about emotions. I do it with my mom, I do it with other friends.”
During a podcast appearance, Katie was asked if she thought Lala leaked their private conversations because she was getting too much backlash from the public, to which she quipped, “Would you say (she was) in the comments section? (The response was a reference to Lala’s claims about the reunion that their co-stars — like James Kennedy and Scheana Shay — were acting based on what they thought Bravo fans wanted.)

“They all have a really special place in my heart. I really had fun with Ariana the first time I was on the show. Katie, my friendship with her (during) Season 10, I thought that friendship was really on point,” she noted on her podcast. “When I think about it, I’m like, ‘Wow, even though it was a difficult time in my life, that friendship really got me through a difficult time in my life.’
Lala clarified that she did still “very fond” of Katie and its other costs, despite their outages.
“Katie and I were very close. I think we don’t have anything in common now and that’s fine,” Lala asserted. “I don’t even know what we would talk about (now). We’re just in such different places and I think the friendship should have been what it was for now.’
Later in the episode, Lala claimed this her connection with Katie “Of course,” he added, “I think that’s perfectly fine.” I have nothing but fond memories of that friendship. I have nothing but fond memories of the friendship I had with Ariana and Dout. But people change and move on.”
She concluded: “There’s not much to talk about anymore – and we’re just at different stages of life. So regardless of why we fell, I really don’t give a ho-. What I do know is the time we spent together, I really enjoyed it. And I wish them all the best.”
Bravo initially suspended filming on Season 12 The Vanderpump Rules due to the ongoing tension between the actors. The decision was eventually overturned and filming continued, but with an entirely new cast. Lala then offered an update on where she stands with Katie when the cameras are on moved on from the OG cast for good.
“It was the strangest season I’ve ever been in. It was all very sad. And Katie and I have two very different views on what happened and the demise of our friendship,” Lala said in a December 2024 episode of the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast. “They see it one way and I don’t like that I’ve been painted as someone who pockets information and brings it out at the right time. Because it didn’t happen.”
