A few months ago, Google’s NotebookLM note-taking app debuted Audio Reviews feature that creates podcasts with AI virtual hosts based on information you share with the app.
Now, NotebookLM spread the ability of users to interact With AI podcast hosts.
The idea behind Audio Views and AI hosts is to give users a new way to digest and understand information in documents they upload to the app, such as course readings or legal briefs.
With this new feature, you can talk to AI hosts and ask them for more details or explain a concept to you differently. Google said in a blog post This experience is like having a personal tutor who listens to you and then responds based on the knowledge gained from the resources you provide.
You can use the new feature by first creating a new Audio Overview, tapping the new “Interactive mode (BETA)” button, and then clicking the “Play” button. From there, you can tap “Join” whenever you want to ask a question. Then the host will call you to speak.
Google notes that this is an experimental feature and it only works with new Audio Previews. What’s more, the company says hosts may also “pause awkwardly before responding,” and since this is a test feature, they may sometimes give inaccurate answers.
According to Google, people have created Audio Previews for more than 350 years since the feature launched in September.
NotebookLM too get a redesign This rearranges the app’s tools into three panes: Sources, Chat, and Studio. In addition, Google offers a premium version of the app called NotebookLM Plus for businesses that offers additional benefits.
