Alexandre, who has been in the marine industry for 25 to 30 years, talks about his company, Vision Marine Technology, which was founded in 2002. The company started out building small electric boats for rental activities and hotels, producing more than 3,000 groups. In 2014, they started developing a high-powered electric system that can reach speeds of 40 to 42 kilometers per hour and water skiing.

They partner with major marine parts suppliers and use McLaren for testing and engineering. Today, Vision Marine Technology builds 50 to 60 small electric boats every year and provides their technology to other boat manufacturers. They completed a total of 21 different types of boats and won awards. The system is efficient, quiet, and fast, and can be recharged with shore power.

Cali and Alexandre discuss the success of their electric motor, which set a new race record for 2022 and 2023. Alexandre explained that the team built a standard boat with and electric boards and reached a speed of 116 kilometers per hour, surpassing the previous record. He emphasized the importance of hands-on testing and development, and the potential for other manufacturers to enter the electric boat market. Alexandre also stated that they are currently the only company in the marine area with a comparable product, but acceptable competition from established brands such as Mercury, Honda (NYSE:), and Suzuki.

Alexandre talks about the advantages of electric outboards for small waterways and short trips, highlighting their cost effectiveness and reducing environmental impact compared to conventional ice engines. He noted that electric outdoor mowers have less vibration, fewer moving parts, and lower fuel costs, with a full charge costing about $5.

He also says that electric outboards require little maintenance, and the only change required is glycol fluid every 1,000 hours.

He reports on the company’s expansion into the pontoon market, highlighting six different connections and models. He notes that the market is huge, especially in lakes where fuel stations are scarce, and that the company now offers small electric boats and pontoons equipped with their system.

Alexandre also shares the importance of relationships with manufacturers, which enables the company to sell fully integrated products.

He reveals plans to offer at least 20 different types of products through their system in the next few weeks.

When asked about the current product range of Vision Marine, he answers that “they have three types of pontoons with about 60 different types and four types of small boats, all built in Montreal and the sealed sea.”

Alexandre talks about the technological advancements and competitiveness of their proven marine components and battery charging system. He emphasizes the high power of electricity, amperage, and cooling, which makes it possible to navigate heavy boats in warm climates without the problems of overheating.

He also talks about the company’s financial situation, including the recent return to NASDAQ and their current cash position.

He is optimistic about the future of electric boats, predicting that sales could double from last year. The company plans to participate in 10 to 12 boat shows and is working to finalize agreements with third-party vendors.
