Zoe Saldana
Sonja Flemming/CBSThe awards season kicked off early as the 82nd year Golden Globes celebrated the best TV and film performances on Sunday, January 5.
When the nominations were announced in December 2024, Emilia Perez made history at the Golden Globes most nominated film in the comedy or musical categories, earned a total of 10 nods. Brutalist and Conclave seven and six nominations followed.
On the TV side, Bear led the pack with five nods, continuing the debate over whether the show is actually a comedy. (For some of Ourthe answer is a clear yes.) Shogun and Only murders in the building each was recognized four times. The former won in all his categories, the latter walked away empty-handed.
With roles in both OMIT and Emilia Perez, Selena Gomez received the rare honor of being nominated in the film and television categories that same year. She confronted the costar Zoe Saldana, Evil‘with Ariana Grande and more for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture and was Best Hacks star Jean Smart in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series Comedy category.
“I don’t even know what to write,” Gomez gushed via her Instagram Story last month. “So proud of @zoesaldana and so grateful and honored @goldenglobes.”
