Anne Hathaway he thinks Jeremy Strong channeled his best Mia Thermopolis Golden Globes 2025.
“Honey, I’m not mad you borrowed it, but I totally didn’t realize you were going to change classes…” Hathaway, 42, wrote via Instagram on Monday, January 6. “Anyway it’s not important, congrats on a well deserved nomination on The Apprentice!!! 💚”
Alongside the caption, Hathaway shared a side-by-side picture of herself wearing a gray hat in 2001. The Princess Diaries alongside Strong in a green version at the awards show on Sunday 5th January.
Strong and Hathway are friends, they previously starred in 2019 Peace and 2022 Armageddon timewhere they played husband and wife.
Strong, 46, turned heads on the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles as he waved mint green velvet hat and a matching suit from Loro Piano. Underneath the suit, Strong wore a white turtleneck and paired the look with mint green sunglasses, a neutral wristwatch and black shoes.
The Sequence star attended the awards ceremony with his wife, Emma Wall. Rather than match Strong’s green, Wall stunned in an elegant, sleeveless, floor-length white dress.
Fans were quick to weigh in on Strong’s point of view. “I have to say I love how Jeremy Strong always skips the boring black/navy suit and tie, never let them know you’re coming,” one user wrote via Xwhile another added: “I see this wonder everywhere.”
Strong was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Roy Cohn in the film Apprenticebut he lost the prize to his ex Sequence costar Kieran Culkin. (Gladiator II‘with Denzel Washington, Brutalist‘with Guy Pearce, Anora‘with Yura Borisov and A complete unknown‘with Edward Norton were also nominated in the category.)
After learning of his nomination, Strong considered the nod. “I was kind of prepared for the movie to be overlooked, given the way it was going… So it’s just incredibly important to me that the Globes recognized the movie based on its artistry and as a movie,” Strong said in the documentary. He continued: “I think it was a real battle from the start to get it made, but even more so to get it seen. And somehow convince the industry that it deserves to be seen. It’s a human and archetypal story that couldn’t possibly be more relevant or fundamental to the moment we’re living right now.”
Prior to Sunday’s awards ceremony, Strong had previously been nominated twice. In 2021, he was nominated for the first time for Best Actor in a Drama TV Series for his role as Kendall Roy v Sequence. He ended up winning the award that year, beating his costar Brian Cox.
