After previously quashing breakup rumors, Craig Conover addresses his a Paige DeSorbo‘s split for the first time.
“Hey everyone, what’s up?” Oh, I thought it was finally time to check in with everyone. Sorry for the delay, this was all very, very unexpected to say the least. But I guess I have to start living again, whatever that looks like. Whatever my new normal looks like — I have to start,” Conover, 35, said via his Instagram story on Tuesday, Jan. 7. He continued, “But yes. (It happened) just before the holidays. I was very shocked. And that’s okay. It takes two people to be in a relationship and you can’t control other people, you can only control how you react to it. Remember to be kind to Paige and me and yourself and all the good things.”
Conover said he is “still processing everything,” which he called “normal.” He added: “(It’s) a 3-year relationship, it’s your best friend that you talk to every day all day and then they’re just gone. So you know, one day I’ll be able to talk more about it.”
Conover thanked fans for their “kind messages” amid the split. “It’s just life. I have to follow my own advice… that no one ever feels better after a breakup,” he continued. “But I guess now I have to practice what I preach and believe it and really believe in God that everything happens for a reason. But I love you all and I will see you all on my travels this January. We have a lot to do.”

Noting that she has changed “a lot” in recent years, DeSorbo said she has “so much love and respect” for Conover despite their split. “I think he’s one of the best people I’ve met in my entire life. I will remain his biggest fan and I want the best for him and he really will get the best because he is the best,” she gushed. “But that being said, I think it’s the right decision for both of us.
Conover earlier shut down the rumours that she and DeSorbo broke up before the holidays. “I don’t know where it came from because we’re together every week,” he said AND! News in an interview published on December 9. “So no, Paige and I didn’t break up. We’re still together.”
The exes met during the filming of the 1st season Winter house in 2021 and went public with their relationship with the Bravo stars Kyle Cooke and Amanda Butterwedding in September. The pair continued to make appearances throughout their relationship Summer house and spinoffs Winter house. The two have also learned to balance a long-distance relationship, as DeSorbo lives in New York and Conover resides in Charleston, South Carolina, where his reality series Southern charm is filmed.
On Monday’s DeSorbo podcast he denied the speculation that Bravo asked her to wait until she announced the breakup. “As far as people saying, ‘Oh, Paige was told to wait until Southern charm came out or Summer house “No one can tell me what to do,” she elaborated. “The network has power, but they don’t have that power. … This is not a real thing. The rumors about us breaking up months ago weren’t true either.”

She also used the split announcement to address other rumors surrounding her and Conover’s relationship. “Our first rumor was that we were in a PR relationship. So we were with these rumors our whole relationship and we didn’t really think about it,” she explained. “But I didn’t want (my listeners) to think I was leaving them out of the loop or anything. Not at all.”
She specifically addressed the breakup rumors, continuing, “Whenever those rumors came up, we were still together. When we broke up, of course I wasn’t running on social media and I wasn’t running on the podcast. We both took some time to deal with it alone in private with family and friends.’
