Timothée Chalamet Goes Blonde at the premiere of his Bob Dylan biopic in New York

Timothée Chalamet takes the dressing method to the next level.

The actor, 28, was recreating Bob Dylan‘s view from the 2003 Sundance Film Festival event at the film’s premiere A complete unknown in New York on Friday, December 13.

Chalamet plays a younger version of Dylan, 83, in the biopic about the legendary musician. He showed up at the SVA Theater sporting sandy blonde hair with bangs—apparently a wig—that specifically gave a nod to Dylan’s Sundance photo shoot hairstyle for drama. Like Dylan at the time, Chalamet wore a black leather jacket over a red and blue plaid shirt — accessorized with a black and gray scarf and a blue knit cap that covered his bronze locks. Earlier this month, Dylan officially considered a biopic via X, writes: “Timmy is a great actor so I’m sure he’ll be totally believable like me. Or younger me. Or some other me.”

He continued: “The film is taken from Elijah Wald‘with Dylan Goes Electric — a book that came out in 2015. It’s a fantastic retelling of the events of the early 1960s that led to the Newport fiasco. After you see the movie, read the book.”

Although it was unclear whether Dylan had seen the film, his praise warmed Chalamet’s heart. as an answer Chalamet gushed“Floor. I am so grateful. Thanks Bob.”

A complete unknownwhich hits theaters on Christmas Day, follows Dylan from the beginning of his career in New York in the 1960s to his famous electric guitar performance of “Like a Rolling Stone” at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965.

Dylan is not directly involved in the project, although he is the director James Mangold he said Rolling Stone sat down with the singer-songwriter several times last month before filming began.

“Bob would have these one-liners that were so fantastic,” Chalamet told the paper in a joint interview with Mangold, 60. “Jim has Bob’s annotated script somewhere. I’ll ask him to take it in my hand. He’ll never give it to me.”
